Oakwood is a small community within the larger community called Westmont. Volunteers are the glue that binds the Oakwood community together. Listed below are the standing committees that make Oakwood work. As can be seen, some are a committee in name only and desperately need volunteers to make them functional again. Please, if you are welling to donate a little of your time please contact the OHA via the contact page on this website. Communications Committee

The Communications Committee is responsible for maintaining communications within the Oakwood Community. They are responsible for the publication of the Oak Leaf, OHA's quarterly newsletter, the OHA Member Directory and maintenance of the OHA Web Site.
If you've ever wanted to write, then join the Oakwood Communications Committee. We need people who can write to write for the Oak leaf. Volunteers are also needed to coordinate the formatting, publishing and distribution of this community newspaper.
Lake Management Committee

The Lake Management Committee is responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and providing planned improvements to Lake Charles, the Eastern Shoreline, and Westman Beach. It manages and monitors the boat registration program as well as monitoring and recommending changes to the rules for the lake, beach, and shoreline to the OHA Board. These rules may be found under Common Area Rules on the OHA Website. If you enjoy seeing plants grow or love to fish or are interested in wildlife, then please contact the OHA to help on the Lake Committee.
Landscape Committee

The Landscape Areas Maintenance Committee manages the maintenance, repair or improvement of all common areas other than Lake Charges and the Eastern Shoreline. This includes both entrances, Westman Beach, cul-de-sacs within our subdivision.
Most of the physical work on this committee is contracted out. However, we need volunteers to help plan, make decisions and to manage the contracts.
Social Committee

The Social Committee organizes and supervises social and recreational activities of the Association in Oakwood. Most, but not all of these activities are for our children. Examples of activities include a Halloween Party, Easter Egg Hunt, Christmas Party, and a Summer Oakwood picnic. Past events have included Road Rallies, Golf Outings, Dinner Groups, dances, and a Junior High Social Group.
Without volunteers, our children will not have the parties that the children of Oakwood have grown up with. If you are willing to organize and run an event or even just help with an event, please contact the OHA. Our children need your help!
